Many users may face the problem when they have a file with very large file size. They want to make it smaller to send it to their friends via email or other methods and find that the email server cannot store such a big file. Even they use compression software can do nothing because most files cannot be compressed anymore due to their structures. In this circumstance, many users may go to find file splitters. In fact, most of them have already installed the “file splitter” in their hard disk. It is named WINRAR.
You may be surprised that WINRAR is used for compression, how can we use it to split files? Here is the guidance to help you split a big file into several files while finishing the compression.
Step1. Select the files you want to compress
This operation can be done through many methods. You can simply use your explorer to finish this. Right click on the files you want to compress, and select “add to a WINRAR file”. The software will be started and shows a window for detail information.
Step2. Set the file size of each separated files
On the interface of that window, you will be allowed to modify the file name and set the file size of split. Select the “split to volumes, bytes” option to enter the file size you want. It usually depends on the limit of file limits.
Step3. Finish the compression and splitting
After finishing the setting, you can simply press the “start” button. A few minutes later you will get the separated files. The file names of them are depends on the name you typed in step1. You would notice that there are several words like “part1, part2” in these files’ name. Those are the feature of separated files. When you want to merge them together, you should put all files which have these words in their name in one folder and run any of them. Then the program will recognize the original file and do the merger.
